Deryn Cowdy is a British artist, based in Miami. Now in demand for her murals and gilded photographs, her career began in printmaking and sculpture. After graduating from The Bath Academy of Arts in the UK, she worked as a painter and photographer in London, moved into conservation for the National Trust, and then into scenic art for photographers and theatre.
Deryn moved to Miami and became established as a well-known muralist for Versace, Cher, and Madonna.A decade of experimentation followed when her love of gardening and garden design - in particular fishponds & weed gardens – inspired her current practice of gilding photographs to create atmospheric light and reflection.
Deryn has exhibited in both group and solo shows nationally and internationally, including her latest solo exhibitions at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and the Key Biscayne Nature Center. She now works from her studio at the Collective 62 in Liberty City with a focus on painting, photography, and landscape gardening.
